Digital Cities and Innovation Cities for a Smarter City

Jakarta, Indonesia’s massive capital, sits on the northwest coast of the island of Java. A historic mix of cultures – Javanese, Malay, Chinese, Arab, Indian and European – has influenced its architecture, language, and cuisine. The old town, Kota Tua, is home to Dutch colonial buildings, Glodok (Jakarta’s Chinatown), and the old port of Sunda Kelapa, where traditional wooden schooners dock.

Jakarta Smart City is the implementation of the smart city concept that optimizes the utilization of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to monitor, analyze and control various resources in the city with more effectiveness and efficiency in order to maximize public services, provide solutions, and support sustainable development.

Jakarta follows three main focus areas for that built an ICT infrastructure:

  • Government that listens
  • Technologies that connect
  • Citizens that participate
