The Paris Agreement is an international treaty that seeks to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases. The Paris Agreement, signed in 2015, is an agreement between 195 member states of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which sets out a global action plan to avoid climate change as a follow-up to the Kyoto Protocol. Its goal is to keep human-induced global warming to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels, striving for 1.5°C if possible, and to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions to zero by the middle of the 21st century.
