To support solar energy and the transition to renewable energy sources
Project
City leaders plan to transition municipal buildings to renewable energy, the project will catalyze renewable energy development. A request to partner with solar panel manufacturers was released by Chicago Infrastructure Trust on October 1, 2018. Construction of the power plants will begin in 2019. Chicago Solar-Ground Mount encourages the development of unused sites that have no plans for future development. The selected contractor will own, operate and maintain ground-mounted solar power plants on vacant land at no cost to the city.
